We tailor an itinerary to suit travelers’ interests, availability and budget, and organize everything – flights, transport, accommodation and sightseeing, but most importantly, a volunteering placement at a local NGO that desperately needs their help.

Our journeys are comparable in price to many standard tours on the market, yet we take none of the travellers’ money ourselves (not a cent) – their travel fee goes directly towards their expenses and the NGO they’ll be working with. Imagine touring the most beautiful places in the world, knowing the money you’ve spent is making a tangible difference in their community. You get to experience a hands-on submersion into another culture, one that will appreciate your visit long after you’ve gone.
Big Umbrella Travel offer trips of a lifetime to exotic locations such as Central America, India and Nepal, where community service projects include a Mayan Medical mission (Mexico), rehabilitation schools (Nicaragua), building sustainable housing (India) and caring for street kids who are in urgent need of help (Nepal).

All Big Umbrella Travellers are escorted by an experienced guide into a remote, and guaranteed safe, village, where they can work in their chosen field for anywhere between one week to three months. Projects can include community development through employment assistance, responsible building and sustainable farming.
