Building the Vocational Center: The Big Umbrella supports the “Not For Sale” campaign, which is planning to build a vocational training center connected to Lucy’s House and Veronica’s House. The Vocational Centre will be run by Lucy Borate, and will provide valuable and income-generating vocational skills and job training to teenagers reccued from the streets.

A safe house for the homeless women and children of Lima: The Big Umbrella is also working directly with the “Not For Sale” campaign which currently funds and operates a safe house for at-risk women and children from Lima’s streets, providing protection and basic needs. The creation of the safe house was inspired by the death of Veronica, who lived on the streets of Lima, Peru and fell into a deceitful trap of forced prostitution. She had and no place to turn for safety. Veronica’s House seeks to address the immediate needs of rescued victims. The safe house provides shelter, food, clothing, counseling and referrals to healthcare.

Veronica’s House is now home to 20 children, receiving schooling and for the first time, the promise of a bright and clear future.
